Doily Dress

A couple of weeks ago, Di (who blogs at Pixie's Crafty Workshop) posted a card using this technique and a link to the tutorial. I made one almost immediately, then set it aside until I figured out how to use it. Here it is.
I especially like how much dimension there is in the skirt. (I just cut the bodice by hand since I don't have the suggested punch).
I followed the layout from the Catch the Bug sketch challenge and used a bunch of snippets (including three coordinating lilacs from a mat stack) to create the card. That dress is so cute I didn't feel like it needed a lot of embellishments, but a little ribbon and pearls never hurt anything.

This card is for these challenges:
The Ribbon Girl -- colour challenge; lilac
Catch the Bug -- sketch 310
Catch the Bug -- BINGO (lace, ribbon, pearls)
CRAFT -- wedding
Papertake Weekly -- Oh so pretty
Pixie's Snippet Playground #181/182 -- use snippets
Word Art Wednesday #188 -- anything goes

  2. I love it! So soft and feminine. I too bookmarked the doily dress tutorial to make one at some point. It is one of the nicer ones I've seen.

  6. That is so clever making the doily a wedding dress! Great idea. What a blessing it is for us that you joined our Challenge at Word Art Wednesday last week and hope you join us again this week. I want to share the Scripture in 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 telling us, ” However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”—the things God has prepared for those who love him—these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.” Have a blessed weekend…

Stencils and diecuts

I've had the idea for this card for a while, but I finally got around to making it this week.  I started by stenciling the stone fence...
