Ivory and Gold

Last week Di featured a card in the Snippets challenge that was made from a variety of white snippets. It was gorgeous and sort of  inspired me to try this card.
I had a snippet of vellum that was just the perfect size for the wreath die. The rest of the card is just bits and pieces of different ivory and white card stock.  I created a chance for additional layers when I tried embossing the sentiment on the linen texture layer.  I don't have detail gold EP, and the gold EP ended up as an unreadable blob rather than a nice sentiment, so I decided to stamp it in gold ink on a little slip and layer it right below the ribbon.
There are gold stickles on the wreath in place of berries. Each layer is also edged with gold ink.

I'm entering the card in these challenges:
Ribbon Girl June Color Challenge -- use ivory
Feeling Sketchy -- Sketch #93
CRAFT Challenge #263 -- Christmas
Holly Jolly -- 3 layers or more
Pixie's Snippet Playground #129 -- All paper is from the snippet file
Clear it Out -- Anything Goes
Simon Says Monday Challenge -- Anything Goes
Word Art Wednesday -- Anything Goes

  3. This card is so sophisticated! It looks very high-end and I adore the gold accents you have running throughout it. I had to laugh at your embossing attempt that ended in an "unreadable blob" because I've done that a million times myself! I was glad to see I'm not the only one who has an embossing disaster every now and then! But I thought that your solution to put the sentiment below the ribbon was just perfect, so good job on not throwing in the towel when the embossing disaster struck! I like the look of the wreath, too, and think the whole thing is striking. Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us here at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog!

  5. Wow Sandy, this is so, so elegant! I love the parchment wreath and am delighted that you found inspiration in the Playground - we do have some very talented girls who come to play. I did giggle about the embossing - sorry, it's just that I almost always have huge problems with embossing too. Nice save though! AND the gold lining round the edges is a lovely touch!

Sorry I'm a bit late commenting, life got a bit busy!

  8. Hi there, surfing in from DJ's Kard Creations blog. This card looks so elegant and rich, it would do for a wedding card even. That wreath looks so good cut in the vellum. I like the gold accents. Nice job!

Stencils and diecuts

I've had the idea for this card for a while, but I finally got around to making it this week.  I started by stenciling the stone fence...
