Vintage Christmas

Here's a Christmas card that uses mostly snippets. All the patterned papers come from a vintage-themed pack, which I just keep in a baggie along with all the snippets that get created from it. The layout uses the current sketch from SCS, and as I was looking through the snippets, I realized I could basically build this layout with snippets. The red edges, for instance, were a 2-inch piece I sliced into 1-inch panels, and the starry strips weren't cut at all, just trimmed off the edge.

Because everything is built on a cream base card, it was just a matter of figuring out the order to apply panels (I started with red on the sides, added green in the middle, then put on the starry strips, covering the gap between the two).  The central image was part of an already-cut page  from the set that contains small elements -- the image was rectangular but nothing was lost by die-cutting it. The sentiment strip is also cut from that same page, making both snippets.

This card is for these challenges:

  2. LOVE this card Sandy - and followed how you used those snippets easily. What a brilliant way to stretch them to their fullest potential - very clever. And I do think the scene is so pretty.

  5. Beautiful card! So blessed you joined our Challenge at Word Art Wednesday and hope you join us again in our current Challenge. Leaving you with the inspiration of God's Word in Psalm 31:24 which says, "Be strong and take heart, all you hope in the Lord." So sorry for my late comment, just been so busy!

Stencils and diecuts

I've had the idea for this card for a while, but I finally got around to making it this week.  I started by stenciling the stone fence...
