CPS 151

Just a quicky using this week's Card Posititoning System sketch CPS151.

It's CAS, using a little mitten stamp of unknown origin and a sentiment by Purple Onion Designs. A couple a nesties, a little paper piercing, and there you have it.

EIC 72, SFTW

This week's Etsy Inspired Challenge #72 is Sweetie Pie TuTus, which sells adorable little tutus for adorable little girls. I'm sure I would have loved one of these when I was little, and they are still fun to look at. I was partly inspired by the colors, so I'll call this pink and green one my one inspiration piece, but the entire site is so girly that the girlyness sort of was the real inspiration to my card.

I combined the Etsy Challenge with the Stamping For the Weekend sketch, which worked out perfectly here.

The Sweetie Pie store just called for sweet stamps, and I don't own anything cuter and sweeter than this plate of Michelle Perkett designs from Faerie Song Art Stamps. I did a little "out of the box" cutting, so her legs are poking out of the circle. The papers are from a Marcella K stack. The ribbon is this incredible double-sided peach and pale green that I picked up for 10 cents at a yard sale. (That's probably what the woman paid for it new about 50 years ago). The ribbon is a little fragile -- it's probably just been sitting around that woman's sewing room for decades -- but I love the color combo.

CPS 150

For Card Positioning System Sketch 150, I pulled out my shoe stamp and sentiment. Don't know what it is about shoes (and I love 'em too), but shoe cards always seem to get a lot of attention.

I did the sketch pretty much as CAS in a simple color scheme. The teal layer has a decorative cut edge and was run thru the Swiss Dots folder. The embellies are half-pearls. The image (from Lasting Impressions) and sentiment (Impression Obsession) are stamped in Ranger Stream ink.

Easy-peasey and fun.

Amethyst and polished stone EIC71

This week's Etsy Inspired Challenge #71 takes us to Amethyst Soap, a small shop that features handmade soap. The shop actually has soap that looks just like a chunk of amethyst, (seriously, that's soap in the picture!) and I used that as my inspiration piece.

I made a piece of polished stone in purple-ish and silver shades to represent the amethyst. The flower stamps are by Autumn Leaves, stamped in Ranger Eggplant and SU Bliss Blue. Added a blue faux gem (didn't have any in an amethyst color, unfortunately). Sentment is silver-embossed.

CPS 149

I combined CPS sketch 149 with the theme of this week's Teapot Tuesday and created what I think is a fun little card. Not much to tell about this one. Stamps are Autumn Leaves' Mindy's Zoo. The red dp is all from an old DCWV mat pack, and red brads complete it. I didn't have a good sentiment, so I just printed one out using a cute font.

I like this sketch, however, and think it will go into my permanent bag of tricks. It's a great way to display interesting or even bold papers without them overwhelming the card.

EIC70

The Etsy Inspired challenge (EIC70) this week is Skylar's Candy Clips, an Etsy shop that sells hair clips decorated with felt flowers. They are all very cute. Most of them are bright and colorful, but I chose this white flower. A few weeks ago, someone did a mono-white card for the EIC challenge, and I was going to try that, but I got drawn to this light lavender, and ended up just doing light pastels.

The lavender is done a TJ technique called faux painted panel. That gave it sort of a vintage feel, and the Anna Griffin stamp of hydrangea worked so well with it. And I found the perfect ribbon to match -- it's a bit of Offray ribbon. The ink is Versamagic Petunia.

Icy Trees

We spent the week of Christmas in Virginia, which was covered with snow. On the morning of Christmas Eve, we drove through the Shenandoah Valley, and passed through an area where all the trees were covered with ice. It was just beautiful, and continued for about 30 miles up the highway. We think the area had had fog that turned to ice on the trees. The trees were just stunningly beautiful, especially with the sun playing off them.

I had that in mind when I made this card. It was for the SCS inspiration challenge for yesterday, and is also for the SmartWord challenge for this month, because this month's word is Ice. You can see the inspiration piece at this link.

I started with glossy paper. Created a mask with a small punched circle, and sponged around it with various inks to create the sun (or moon) and the sky. I then stamped over the inked background and used Winter Wonderland EP to create the trees. The tree is from Posh Impressons. I used one of my favorite sentiments, from Faerie Song, which seemed to go so well with this winter wonderland scene.

Faerie Antics

Faerie Song Rubber Art Stamps has released a new plate called Faerie Antics. I did the sample cards for the release, and thought I'd share some of them with you (since the muse seems to have deserted me shortly after I finished them). In keeping with the theme and feel of the images on the plate, I made everything very bright and cheerful.

CPS148 faux quilted

Today's Technique Challenge at SCS was to make a faux patchwork quilt. I combined that with this week's Card Positioning System Sketch (CPS 148).

Papers are from an old mat pack from Provo Craft (I'm trying to use some of this old stuff up -- not exactly a New Year's Resolution, but I do sometimes shudder at how much stuff I accumulate). The stamp is just a little one from a holiday set from Hobby Lobby ("warm", quilts -- I did think about it), and the ribbon's from my stash (I'm a bigger sucker for ribbon than paper, so that's what I really need to use up.)

Other than that, pretty self-explanatory. Should I add faux stitching on the quilted blocks--what do you think?
