Spring has sprung

After a few false starts, I think spring has settled in, so I made a very springy card.
The image is from Bugaboo, colored in pencils to pick up the colors on the paisley print patterned paper. The image panel is edged in black and matted on green. The layout comes from the Stella Says Sketch Challenge going on at Bugaboo's Catch the Bug challenge.
Because of the busy image and the busy papers, I wanted to keep embellies pretty simple. Here I embossed some pale yellow cardstock and punched out a butterfly.

This card is for these challenges:
Catch the Bug: Stella says Sketch #506
Butterfly Challenge #75 -- colors of the night sky/repeat -- the varied blues on the boot are my night sky colors

Too fun to waste

Today's card features a recycled/upcycled image from a store-bought Christmas card I received. The bird in the hat cracks me up (and there's another image cut for the same card waiting for its upcycling).

The birds are mounted on a panel embossed with a sheet music folder, and I'm keeping it CAS to keep the focus on those birds.

This card isi for these challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Monday-- Things with Wings
Rudolph Days March Challenge -- Christmas
Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge #326 -- Christmas

Cookie Challenge #65

This time around, it looks like the If You Give a Crafter a Cookie Challenge is going to the dogs. How cute are these inspiration cookies? All you you have to do to play along is make a project inspired by the cookies.
There are  two prizes up for grabs: digi images from Kitty Bee Designs and All Dressed Up.
I played with diagonals in my card.  The patterned paper is a snippet, with the dog on another snippet. The bowl and bone were fussy-cut and added to the card. I thought it would be fun to add the sentiment alongside the diagonal too.

Look what I found

I got bit by the urge to do a little spring cleaning the other day, and I started working down the pile that has accumulated on my craft table. Among the things I uncovered: a pretty watercolored background and a lovely diecut of a tree with a birdhouse hanging from it. Bingo! I had the makings for a card.  I also found a piece of white cardstock I'd already punched the corner on. All I had to do was die-cut the oval frame out of the middle and add the sentiment.
So cleaning does have it's benefits.

This card is for these challenges:
TIME OUT #79 -- CASE
HLS March Dies Challenge -- anything goes with dies
Simon Says Stamps Wednesday -- at least 2 dies/punches
Rubber Dance -- theme: everything spring

Goldfinch

I debated adding a flower or other embellishment, but in the end, I think this image is so pretty I didn't want to draw any attention away from it.  Sweet and Sassy image colored with pencils, Impression-Obsession sentiment, patterned paper from Basic Grey.

Double D -- things that fly
Kraftin Kimmie #373 -- things with wings

Dear Santa

It's the first day of spring, and I'm showing a Christmas card. Oh, well, I've shown plenty of spring cards while it was still winter.

This card features a Santa image from Scibbles Designs. It's colored in pencils (although I'm not really happy with the coloring and will go back and do some touch-ups).  The image panel is pierced all the way around. The layout is from SCS, and it turned out to be a good way to showcase busy patterned paper without overwhelming the card. On the base panel, I used white gel pen to write a little letter to Santa.

This card is for these challenges:
CRAFT #407 -- Christmas
Winter Wonderland -- for a child
Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge #325 -- anything Christmas
Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge EXTRA -- anything Christmas

Pink and green

Happy Friday. Here's a cheerful card  featuring one of my favorite color combos, pink and pale green. The layout for this comes from Cuttlebug Mania (I think this is the first sketch I've ever seen them use). To create the card, I used a border punch on two snippets, a green and pink print and a pink print with arrows, which was actually recycled from an advertising circular. The mint green circle is another snippet, die-cut with a nestie, then embossed with a Sizzex EF.  The larger pink butterfly uses more of that paper fromm the circular, cut with an SSS die, and the smaller is punched.

This card is for these challenges:
Butterfly Challenge #74 -- edges and mint green
HLS March Die Challenge -- anything goes
Pixie's Snippet Playground -- everything but the base is a snippet
WordArt Wednesday -- Anything goes
Double D Challenge -- think spring
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday -- for a special lady

Cookie Challenge #64

It's time for another challenge at If You Give a Crafter a Cookie. Is that not the sweetest inspiration cookie ever?  This time, two prizes are up for grabs, digis from A Day For Daisies and from Oddball Art. Just make a project inspired by the cookies and link it up.
My card started with a die-cut someone sent me.  I think maybe it's actually supposed to be a wreath, but I looked at it and I saw a bird's nest. All I had to do was add the eggs, which are simply die-cut ovals with a little speckling added with a marker tip. The sentiment comes from combining a simple "Spring" with the Happy off a birthday sentiment.  Hope you can join us in welcoming spring with this challenge.

Spring fever

The weather has been see-sawing between really springlike and somewhat dreary for weeks. (Guess what weather comes on the weekends?).  I'm ready for all spring, how about you?
This card uses the current Mojo Monday sketch, and a doily just seems like a lovely girly element for the large half-circle. The image panel uses a tulip from Taylored Expressions, colored in pencils, with a pireced edge and a tiny green shadow to help make it stand out. I've been digging around my stash of "what am I going to do with this?" embellies and chose this little acrylic bubble sentiment.  Underneath it, there's a bit of seam binding, which I wet and scrunched (not really thrilled with the results).

This card is for these challenges:
Mojo Monday #487
Double D Challenge -- Think spring
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday -- for a special girl
Word Art Wednesday#272 -- anything goes/featuring Taylored Expressions.
The Ribbon Girl -- March Card Challenge
Stamplorations -- March Theme, Stamps and Spring

Alice in Wonderland

I made a fun card based on Alice in Wonderland, featuring the Herald Rabbit. I found a copyright-free image and printed it out, then added some color with pencils. The image was die-cut in a circle with  an out-of-the-box cut on the rabbit's ears. The circle is edged in silver ink and matted on a really pretty scalloped circle die-cut I got as an RAK.
There are three different papers (the one that looks plain red has a subtle pattern). The one with the smaller print has a scalloped edge.
The embellies are from a bag I keep of random items that don't fit into categories I have embellies organized by, although I guess these two could be called charms -- an acrylic heart and a silver circle. To finish it off, there's twine hanging down, with tiny hearts on the ends.

This card is for these challenges:
Die Cut Divas -- For the love of animals
The Paper Shelter #283 -- animals magic
Crafty Sentiments -- anything goes
Word Art Wednesday #272 -- anything goes

Red and gold Christmas
