Cookie Challenge #63

It's time for another challenge at If You Give a Crafter a Cookie.  All you need to do to play along is to be inspired by these cookies. There are two opportunities for prizes this time: Lemon Shortbread and Digital Delights, both offering digis to our winners.
Image may contain: foodFor my card, I used this cute owl and balloon image from Digital Delights. The image is colored with pencils, cut out with an oval nestie and mounted on a scalloped oval.
I found the fold for this card in the Technique Junkies newsletter. To keep the card closed, I used baker's twine, which is routed through a couple of eyelets on the owl panel. (Look at me, two eyelets used on this project. Add that to the one I used about a month ago, and I'm up to three for the year. Woot-woot.)

My card is for these challenges:

Cuttlebug Mania -- It's a Zoo out there
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday -- anything goes
Word Art Wednesday #270 -- anything goes
Kraftin Kimmie Wonderful Wednesday -- anything goes
Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge -- use patterned paper.

Going for pretty here

I'm ready for spring, so here is a very springy-looking card.  I used this inspiration photo from Sweet Pea Designs' Mix It Up Challenge #28. I also used my favorite color combo -- pink and a pale-ish green.
The green branch is from a Memory Box die, and the butterfly is a Sizzlet  in pink vellum. I free-hand pierced the butterfly trail and added a little piercing around the punched corner.

This card is for these challenges:
Sweet Pea Mix It Up #28 -- inspiration photo
Butterfly Challenges #72 -- color "fern" and piercing
Crafty Sentiments -- favorite combo (I took that to mean favorite color combo).
Simon Says Wednesday -- Fantastic florals
Simon Says Monday -- Favorite tool (love my Cuttlebug)

Embossing paste ornament

At ABC Christmas, D is for dimension, so I thought I would try embossing paste. I die-cut an ornament shape and used the negative as a stencil for silver embossing paste. Since I don't have any specialized tools for applying the paste, I used a plastic knife, and ended up with a little unexpected textural design on the ornament. A row of gems across the center of the ornament adds even more dimension.
The pine branches are supposed to suggest a tree. Also used: glittery ribbon (it's as bad as glitter when you cut it -- glitter everywhere) and corner rounder.

This card if for these challenges:

Cookie Challnge #62

Christy's Savories: Valentine's Day Heart Cookies: It's time for another challenge at If You Give a Crafter a Cookie. All you have to do is make a project inspired by these cookies. There are prizes from two generous sponsors:  Elisabeth Bell Designs
 and the Cutting Cafe.
For my card, I was inspired by the black and white color theme.  I pulled out some black and white snippets I had, and made one of my own by inking up a heart-shaped cookie cutter and stamping it in black on a white snippet that I edged in black. The red heart added a perfect touch of red, and a polka-dot ribbon finished it off.

This card is for these challenges:
Word Art Wednesday #268 -- anything goes
Die Cut Divas --  red
HLS Die-cut challenge -- anything goes
Simon Says Stamp Monday -- Young at heart
Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge -- use patterned paper

Vintage look

This card uses Mojo Monday sketch 483, which allowed me to use lots of snippets from a very old set of papers that still appeal to me. I followed the sketch pretty faithfully, just dropping the bow and adding a flower.  The sentiment is from Rubbernecker.  All the panels aside from the circles are outlined with paper piercing.
The ribbon is an ivory-colored crocheted lace. The flower looked to be made of muslin or a similar cotton, and I "dyed" it by using a SU Lavender Lace marker and wetting the flower with a watercolor brush. I just played with it until I got a look I liked.

This card is for these challenges:
Mojo Monday -- sketch 483
Double D -- lavender and lace
The Ribbon Girl -- any card
Pixie's Snippet Playground #267-- use snippets

Foiled again

I'm in a group that does a themed COTM every month. This month's theme was a Valentine using embossed foil. (That seems really specific to me. I would have preferred embossed foil OR Valentine, but not both, but that's neither here nor there for you, is it?)

The foil is embossed with a Sizzix folder. (The video the COTM director linked to showed you embossing the foil straight through the Cuttlebug with no backing, but when I tried it, the embossing broke through the foil, so I glued foil to cardstock and tried again. Maybe I just have cheap foil?)

The pink and red paper is from a Chistmas mat pack I got at Michael's.  That color combo does not say Christmas to me.

Not sure who makes the gorgeous die-cut, as this was an RAK.  Sentiment is from Purple Onion Designs.

This card is for these challenges:
Die Cut Divas -- pink and red
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday -- The Color of Love
Cuttlebug Mania -- lots of red
Catch the Bug -- anything goes

Merry and bright

A friend sent me some stamped images of Christmas Snoopy, and it works perfectly with this ribbon. The image is colored with pencils, ad matted on a coordinating card. I just added the ribbon and a tag to make a card. (Snoopy is a Stampendous image and the sentiment is Hampton Arts.)

Stems and flowers

I love these Tim Holtz flowers, and decided to use them for a CAS card. The card is a mini slimline. The All that was left of the snippets...
