Etsy Inspired 81

This week's Etsy Inspired Challenge EIC81, takes us to a shop called Ponder and Stitch, which sells fabric cuffs. My inspiration was one in a retro floral print, which inspired me to use this flowered paper.

Papers are by Cosmo Cricket, and the sketch is from this week's CAS challenge at SCS. The bunny is from a 2002 SU Sale-a-bration set. The acrylic tag is stamped with a sentiment from KI Memories. There is a touch of colored pencils on the bunnies, and some VersaMagic Bamboo inked sponged on the edges.

White Wedding

It just so happens that both the SmArt-Word Challenge and Stamping for the Weekend have a monochromatic card challenge going on right now. For me, it was the perfect opportunity to make a wedding card for my niece, who is getting married in May.

If you're doing all white, texture is the way to go, so I used the Swiss dot folder on one layer, and used the love postage stamp embossing folder as well for another layer. I silver-embossed a wedding cake (StampCraft) and used a white organza ribbon with silver edging. There's a little bit of piercing, but it didn't really show up in the photo.

I wanted the card to be fresh and white without being too frilly -- after all, there's a groom who will be getting the card as well.

Wood inspired thanks

This week's Etsy Inspired Challenge takes us to a store called 3 Dots Jewelry, where the artisan sells jewelry that is made from wood. The wood tones and geometric shapes of this necklace inspired me to pull out a set of funky shapes from Purple Onion Design and every color of brown ink I own. The result is this CAS card for EIC79

The ink colors are Versacolor Sand Beige, a copper, and Colorbox Chestnut Roan.

This also qualifies for this month's SmArt Word challenge, which is to do a monochromatic card.

EIC 78 Mermaids

This week's Etsy store is Fantasy Prints by Maigan Lynn, who does wonderful mermaid scenes. I love mermaids (don't ask me why, I'm definitely not a fish when it comes to playing in the water), and I have lots of mermaid images, so this was a fun Etsy Inspired Challenge for me.

Maigan Lynn has all sorts of lovely, girly color combos for her mermaids. I went with the green and pink combo, which is actually entitled Luna de la Mar. My image is from Faerie Song Art Stamps, which has a couple of different mermaid plates for those of you who love mermaids as much as I do.

EIC 77, inspired by bees

Seems like it's been ages since I had a chance to do the Etsy Inspired Challenge. For EIC77, this week's shop is United Thread, which sells original prints. I was inspired by a piece called Bees and Dandelion.

The flower from Autum Leaves is black embossed on Cosmo Cricket paper. The bee wings are covered with gold microbeads (source of sentiment unknown). I also added a row of microbeads under the strip of ribbon in the corner -- I bought these beads several months ago, and just started using them; what fun they are.

Red and gold Christmas

I watched a video earlier this year that suggested you could use any flower on a Christmas card as long as you color it red. I don't ha...
