Wedding card

Here's a wedding card that uses really old stamps. The cake and glasses are a from a cube stamp (with images on fives sides, cool idea that never took off, I guess); I'm pretty sure that's from All Night Media. The congrats is an old Stampin' Up set. All images are white embossed, with pearl accents on the congrats panel.
The color in the photo is a little deceiving... the brown is lighter in person, more of a pinkish beige, and there's a pink tint to the patterned paper as well. This card was inspired by the mood board at Sum More Fun, which features weddings and a color similar to what I used.

This card is for these challenges:
Sum More Fun #31 -- weddings
Simon Says Stamp Monday -- food and drink
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday -- anything goes
Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge -- use patterned paper

Hinged card

This card design was featured at SCS several weeks ago, and I finally finished a card based on their tutorial. I don't recall ever seeing this tilting card style before, although it was listed as an "everything that's old is new again" idea. The tilt is a fun surprise for the  recipient.
The instructions on the tutorial are quite clear, so there's no need to repeat them here. The card features a die-cut reindeer from Whimsy and die-cut holly leaves from a Spellbinders set called Little Leaf Sets, and of course those are Nestability ovals. Those are red sequins posing as holly berries. The decorative border was made with a Recollections punch.
All the printed papers are papers are from a mat stack from Michael's, The Paper Studio line.

Long may you run*

There's a new {PIN}spirational Challenge up, and this time it's a rustic scene. You could go a lot of ways with this -- barns, rural scenes, or of course a truck. Whichever way the photo inspires you, link up a project and you may be the winner of a gift certificate to Fred She Said digital stamps store.
For my card, I chose to do a truck, using paper piecing to give it a paneled look, kind of like a "woody." The truck (digi from Inktegrity) is colered in pencils with silver gel accents on the chrome and white gel pen o the lights. Sentiment is from Impression-Obsession.
     * If you don't recognize that, it's the title of a Neil Young song that always makes me cry, supposedly about an old vehicle of his, but it feels like it's about a friend.

This card is for these challenges:

Crafting By Designs -- paper piecing

Santa's list

It's been a while since I've posted a Christmas card. This one features a variety of patterned papers that are all from a pack I got at Michael's. The Santa, Santa's List and sentiment were all on a page emphmera. The sparkly red strip is actually an awesome piece of ribbon that has embossed holly on it -- it's gorgeous in real life. For added sparkle, there are sparkly flat faux gems (anyone have an official name for these?) in lines of three along the right top and bottom corners.

World Cup countdown

Deanne has selected a timely inspiration photo for us this time at {PIN}spirational Challenges. With Father's Day and the World Cup both on tap this month, we can all get sporty.
This challenge is sponsored by Imagine That! digital stamps, with a random draw for a gift certificate to their store, so I hope you get in the spirit and link up.

This card features the "impossible card" layout that has been making its way around the web. Once  I learned how to do it, I was amazed at how un-impossible it is. It's SO easy!.  (SCS has a good tutorial and I'm sure others abound).

The Soccer Nut image and sentiment are from Bugaboo and were colored in pencils. Everything but that sporty background paper is a snippet (and this sort of card looks to be a really good way to use up snippets, since the largest piece you need is only a quarter sheet).

I'm entering my card in these challenges:
CRAFT #470 -- outdoor fun
Crafting by Designs -- For the Boys
Scribbles Designs #65 -- masculine
Pixie's Snippet Playground #327 -- use snippets
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday -- anything goes
Catch the Bug -- anything goes
Word Art Wednesday #336 -- anything goes
Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge --  use patterned paper

All about the Snippets

Di from Pixie's Snippet Playground asked me to provide the mid-challenge inspiration card this go-round, and here's what I came up with.

This scene card is all snippets, aside from the base. It started with a 4-inch by 5 ¼-inch blue snippet. I cut three snippets of green patterned paper using the curved Whimsy Stitched Edge die, then arranged them on top of each other to create the “hills,” trimming off the edges to fit. The clouds are white snippets cut with Whimsy Stitched Clouds die.  The sheep are from a set by The Alley Way (which is sadly out of business) called With Wondering AWE. They were stamped with Memento Black ink, colored with pencils, and fussy-cut. The sentiment (from The Alley Way set More Than Words) was stamped in the same black ink. Once the scene was all assembled, it was placed on a top-fold A-2 card.

Red and gold Christmas

I watched a video earlier this year that suggested you could use any flower on a Christmas card as long as you color it red. I don't ha...
