I'm doing a swap where the idea is to create a new Beatrix Potter character with a stamp. I chose this sweet little penguin from Sweet Pea Stamps. I used the current sketch from Sketch Saturday, and kept the colors muted to look like the Beatrix Potter illustrations I remember. I added some white wink of Stella glitter on all the snowy elements, but they didn't show up in the photo. The papers are all snippets from a Making Memories pad, accented with three gel dots.

Nature's AC
The heat continues unabated here in the South, so let's think cool thoughts. Like snowmen.
I think this guy is so cute. The image is from Paper Cupcakes, which sadly is no longer in business. He's colored with pencils, and the image panel is sponged with Colorbox Chalk Ice Blue ink (I used to use that all the time for sky, then kind of forgot about it when I got SU Bliss Blue). There are stickles on the snowflake.
The layout for this is the current Mojo Monday sketch, and I used domed snowflake stickers for the circular elements. The white strip is embossed with snowflakes, which didn't show up well -- between the embossing and reflective domes on the stickers, this was a hard card to photograph.
Everything on this card is a snippet, so I'm finally back at the Snippet Playground this week.
this card is for these challenges:
Holly Jolly Holly Jolly Christmas Card Challenge -- Inspired by a song (Frosty the Snowman)
Papertake Weekly -- Build it up (dimension from embossing, layering and domed stickers)
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge -- I is for (Ice Blue ink)

Mojo Monday #407 -- sketch
Pixie's Snippet Playground #186-- snippets
Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Extra -- anything Christmas

Going in circles
I made this card inspired for the photo inspiration for the Give a Crafter a Cookie Challenge.
The image is from Faerie Song, black embossed on a purple circle. I added a few doodles with white gel pen and embellished with with a skeleton leaf, flowers, bow and a butterfly charm. There is a brad hidden under the ribbon that allows you to swing the bottom and top layers of the card open.
this card is for these challenges:
Give a Crafter a Cookie #23 -- photo inspiration
Papertake Weekly -- No square cards
Clear It Out -- purple
The Paper Shelter #212-- use circles
Butterfly Challenge #35 -- use a talisman (charm)

Back to Diagon Alley
A few weeks ago I mentioned I really like strong diagonal elements in card layouts. This week's Mojo sketch had one, so I decided to try it.
The stamps are from Purple Onion, colored in pencils. There is a bit of Diamond Glaze on the glass. That's a sand-pail-shaped eyelet by the sentiment. Someone must have given it go me -- while I will take the blame for buying regular eyelets by the hundreds, I have never purchased any in weird shapes. (I like my supplies to have at least some versatility, and how often do you need a bucket-shaped eyelet?)
The papers are all snippets, and if you look closely you can see a little patchwork I had to do. I'll have to figure out a way to cover that.
Entering the card in these challenges:
Mojo Monday -- sketch 405
Pattie's Creations -- make a splash
The Divas that Die-cut -- summer
The Paper Shelter -- summer vacation
Clear it Out -- Anything goes

Almost halfway there
I liked this little Pure Innocence Christmas girl so much I decided to make another card featuring her. This one uses the current sketch from Sketch Saturday. The image is colored in pencils, with Spica pen and Stickles on her ornaments. The flowers have Stickles on the centers. They are mounted on a circle and a scalloped circle cut with Nesties and my Cuttlebug.
The sentiment is a clear sticker. The green papers are from a Echo Park mat stack I have almost used up now.
We're into July, so we're almost halfway to Christmas.
I'm entering these challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday -- going dotty
Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge #235 -- two words
Cuttlebug Mania -- use a sentiment

Tomato time
You know when you're a kid and adults say the best thing about summer is tomatoes, and you think they are crazy? Nope, they are completely right. Last year deer ate all my tomato plants -- I got about 3 ripe tomatoes before they realized I was growing them, and that was my entire harvest. This year we put up temporary fencing, and then I bought some unusual heirloom tomato seedlings from the Master Gardeners sale. So far, I have tomatoes on the vine waiting to ripen and no deer attacks.
I guess that's a really long explanation of why I put tomatoes on a summer-themed card, isn't it?
The image is from Impression-Obsession, colored with pencils. The sentiment is from Purple Onion. Under the main panel, I white-embossed a couple of antique seed packet images, just to put a little interest back there.
